Yosemite National Park

It turned out that we picked a great time to visit Yosemite. There was still snow at the higher elevations, which was melting to feed the many waterfalls. On the other hand, we arrived late enough to avoid the flooding of a couple weeks prior. I don’t think either of us expected to deal with the snow up close. Driving up to Glacier Point ended that misconception.

We love snow.

Setting aside our amazement for walking comfortably in snow in shorts, we drove the rest of the way to Glacier Point, which provided even more spectacular views, if that is imaginable. Here’s the Valley floor and surrounding peaks. Our ultimate day 2 destination is at the top right. And I do mean top.

The trail to Half Dome leads past these two waterfalls, Vernal (lower) and Nevada (upper) Falls.

It was about this time that Odie started taunting Half Dome, yelling and pointing at a huge rock from miles away. Nobody really looked at us funny.
