Another few miles down the road is the Immortal Tree, which is about 1000 years old, 14 ft diameter, and 298 ft tall at its maximum. Since then it has withstood lightning, fire, loggers, and flood.

Nearby is the Eternal Tree House, another hollowed out redwood that people have stayed in when desperate. Now it’s inhabited by a tailless cat [not pictured].
